How to Apply Work Visa for Netherland.
NETHERLANDS WORK VISA
Individuals who aren’t from Europe or Switzerland and need to work in the Netherlands should meet explicit circumstances. Commonly, those from outside the European Financial Region (EEA) and Switzerland require a work license. There are two primary sorts: a “tewerkstellingsvergunning” TWW (work license) and a “gecombineerde vergunning voor verblijf en arbeid” GVVA (consolidated home and work grant).
CONDITIONS FOR PEOPLE FROM EEA & SWITZERLAND:
Some people residing in European Countries or people from Switzerland are eligible to work without a work Visa. Also, people holding Dutch Citizenship, without the need of TWW or GVVA. Other foreigners can also work in the Netherlands but under some conditions.
WORK PERMIT FOR FOREIGNERS:
People living outside EEA countries Switzerland included can work in the Netherlands as well, but on the condition that they have a job and their employer gets TWV for the employee. All the conditions need to be met to get TWV, Employment Insurance Agency of Netherlands will only issue TWV after proper procedure and completion of multiple conditions. The Employer also needs to show that at first, the he needs to show that they cannot find an experienced staff or a person to work for them. The need to get the foreigner should be cleared by the organization.
Once the worker gets hired by the company, the company/organization would apply for its TWV with the identification documents of the worker, together with the permit to hire the company. A copy would be compared with the original documents of identification and the company would keep the copy of it.
Certain groups are exempt from requiring a permit:
Managers in the Netherlands are not expected to get a work license for explicit classes of unfamiliar nationals who are representatives of nations outside the European Financial Region (EEA) and Switzerland. In any case, to remain in the Netherlands for under 90 days, they should have a home license or a visa.
Certain groups are exempt from requiring a permit, including:
- Individuals who have a residence permit that says ‘arbeid is vrij toegestaan’ (‘permitted to work’), such as holders of an asylum residence permit.
- Self-employed foreign citizens holding a residence permit for self-employed persons (‘verblijfsvergunning zelfstandig ondernemer’).
- Foreign citizens starting a business with a residence permit for starting a start-up (‘verblijfsvergunning start-up’).
- Highly skilled migrants – individuals with advanced and higher education contributing to the knowledge-based economy in the Netherlands.
- Foreign citizens residing outside the Netherlands perform specific short-term tasks in the country, like attending business meetings or repairing equipment provided by their company or an employer based outside the Netherlands.
TYPES OF WORK PERMIT:
There are two types of work permits mentioned above;
- TWV (Work Permit)
- GVVA (Combined residence and Work Permit)
Foreign citizens can apply directly for GVVA without the need of an employer but TWV can only be applied by a company/employer for the staff/experienced worker. The criteria for both permits are set the same by UWU.
If foreigners are willing to work for more than months in the Netherlands they need to apply for GVVA. Residences of EEA and Switzerland are exempted from this.

Conditions where TWV is required;
In some conditions, a foreigner cannot directly apply for GVVA but he would need an employer to apply for TWV for him.
These conditions are;
- If a person is coming to work in the Netherlands for less than 3 months.
- Students who already have a residence permit in the Netherlands.
- Foreigners of Asylum, asylum seekers waiting for their asylum application to get decided.
Getting a work permit is a separate hustle, first, you need to prove that the person suitable for the job cannot be found in EEA or Switzerland. Another condition is vacancy fulfillment. UWU will decide if the vacant position is hard to fill after checking the period of the job opening. If the job has been opened and still stays vacant for 3 months at least, the UWU will grant permission to call a suitable candidate from another country.
