The Family Joining Visa is a type of resident visa that is exclusively meant for the spouses and minor children (under 21) of foreign workers employed in top positions in Oman. In addition, foreign spouses of Omani citizens are covered, pending Ministry of Interior certification.

Eligibility of Oman Family Visa+

Expatriate employees meeting the following criteria:

  • Holding an executive position in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Gulf Cooperation Council.
    • Renting an apartment in their name or the name of their employer.
    • Getting paid more than RO 600 (Omani Rials) per month.

Foreign wives of Omani citizens:

Must possess a marriage certificate that is authenticated and verified by their home country’s embassy office, the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Interior’s certificate verifying the marriage.

Key features of the Family Joining Visa

Validity Period: The Oman Family Visa is valid for two years. Valid for two years from the date of issuance.

Multiple Entries: This family visa allows you multiple entries and exits during the period of validity. 

Application Process

  1. Gather all the necessary documents.
  2. Complete the online application form on the Royal Oman Police website.
  3. Submit the completed application form and all required documents to the relevant authorities. This could be the employer, the Ministry of Manpower, or the Royal Oman Police, depending on your specific situation.
  4. Pay the visa processing fee. The fee can vary, so it’s recommended to check with the embassy or consulate for the latest information.
  5. Wait for the processing to be completed. Processing times can vary, so plan accordingly and factor in enough time before your desired travel date.
  6. Collect your visa once approved.

Required Documents

The application process requires submitting various documents, including:

  1. Application Form
  2. Photographs
  3. Passport
  4. Copy of Specimen Signature
  5. Medical Certificate
  6. Approval from the Ministry of Manpower
  7. Marriage certificate
  8. For Omani Citizen

Application Form:

There is an official website where you can apply for a visa. It can be completed on the Royal Oman Police website and signed by the employer or an authorized representative. The form requires to be filled in Arabic language for Arab nations and English for Non Arab nations.

Photographs:

Two Passport Sized Photos (6×4 cm). 

Make sure the expressions stay neutral, the face should cover 60 to 70% of the photograph area, and do not wear caps (if not for religious purposes) or glasses.

Passport:

A passport copy is required that must be valid for at least six months.

Copy of Specimen Signature:

In case you belong to the private sector, a copy of the specimen signature is required on the authorized sheet issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. 

Medical Certificate:

Copy of medical certificate approved by the Ministry of Health. Other medical details will be given by authorities in the embassy in your home country.

Approval from the Ministry of Manpower:

Copy of a form approved by the Ministry of Manpower, indicating the employee’s details (job title, salary) or bank statements showcasing salary transfers for the past six months.

Marriage certificate:

Copy of marriage certificate authenticated by Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For Omani Citizen:

For wives of Omani citizens, a copy of the Ministry of Interior’s approval, the authenticated marriage certificate, and a copy of the valid Omani identity card.

Additional Things to Note:

This list of required documents might change from time to time. Always verify these requirements from the relevant authorities. 

Some documents need to be translated into Arabic and this must be done by the certified translator, not by someone random.
