In that case, your called (family member residing in China) must have a stable job or occupation and a suitable home to live in China. This family visa is also called Q Visa. Understanding Q Visas: Your Gateway to Family Reunions

China offers a Q visa but it has two types, significantly a Chinese citizen from your family member can call you to China on a family visa. The type of visa depends on duration and that’s why it is categorized into two steps;

  1. Q1 VISA
  2. Q2 VISA

Q1 VISA

This visa is applied when the applicant intends to stay that is surpassing 180 days. This is usually used for long-term stays with family in China. Holders of this Q1 Visa are required to apply for a residence permit which will allow them to stay there for as long as five years.

Q2 VISA

This is solely for short-term purposes who intend to visit China with family but for less than 180 days. This is a great opportunity for those who are planning to meet their loved ones in the short term. The extensions in this visa are also available but under certain situations and in order to get the extension one must apply a month before their visa expires.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR A TYPE VISA

This will show the eligibility for a Q Visa according to the type of visa you are applying for whether is Q1 or Q2 and according to the relationship;

Q1 Visa Eligibility

You are eligible to apply for this visa if the applicant is a close relative of a Chinese citizen or a foreigner who has a permanent residency in China. Direct relationships include your spouses, children, parents, kin, grandparents, grandkids, siblings, mates of children or girls, and guardians. Apart from that you can apply for a Q1 visa if you are coming to China for childcare purposes.

Q2 Visa Eligibility

Like the Q1 visa, you can apply for a Q2 visa if you’re a relative of a Chinese citizen or a foreigner with a permanent residency in China. The perceived family members for a Q2 visa also include spouses, parents, children (sons and daughters), siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, spouses of sons or daughters, and parents-in-law.

Gathering The Necessary Documents

It is important to get your important documents ready prior to applying for a Q visa of any type. this is essential so you don’t have to get yourself into the hustle and bustle of gathering documents during the application process, this can lead to mismanagement, more time while submitting an application, and might lead to incorrectness in the application form.

Following are the documents that are common for any visa type, additional documents might be asked by the embassy or consulate so be prepared in that case.

Valid Passport

A valid passport is required and everybody knows it. It must be valid for at least six months beyond your stay. Also, this must have two blank pages for stamping purposes.

Passport Sized Photos

At least two passport-sized photos with requirements mentioned by the embassy or consulate.

Complete Application form

Application form with complete information must be submitted along with the full visa fee paid with proof of it.

Invitation Letter

Letter of invitation issued by your host in China

Itinerary

Your purpose of visit and all the details regarding your visit to China. Your departure date and other important visits must be included.

Proof of Relationship

Also, an important piece of paper that shows your relationship proof with the Chinese Citizen who is calling you to China.
