PROCESS OF APPLICATION FOR ABU DHABI VISA:
ENTRY VISA QUOTA APPROVAL:
The Ministry of Labor (MOL) issues a quota that the employer will take benefit of and would apply for the employment visa for the worker. The quota sets the limit for the company allowing them to have a certain amount of foreign workers. Must have space for that number of workers to work in the company. If MOT approves the quota application then the process can begin.
EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT SUBMISSION:
The employment contract must be signed by the employer and the employee. There would be information about salaries, perks, contract duration, probation, and other allowances, etc. The contract would be submitted to MOL for approval which might take up to 14 days. The contract must meet the regulations and labor laws set by UAE like wages, working time, leaves, etc.
WORK VISA & ENTRY PERMIT APPLICATION:
When the quota is granted by MOL to the company, the employer will apply for the employee’s work permit and entry visa. The MOL website would help you out with this process; supporting documents need to be updated. Document requirements would be mentioned there like educational certificates, passports, etc.
AQUIRE EMPLOYMENT ENTRY VISA:
The issuance of the work permit will open the gate for employment entry visas. You will be informed through email. This entry visa allows the employee to enter in UAE within sixty 60 days of the issuance.
MEDICAL CERTIFICATES:
A medical test/medical certificate is required, and must be cleared. This is important to check for any contagious disease like polio, HIV, Hepatitis, or TB. The medical tests would be required according to the job.
RESIDENCE VISA:
When the medical certificate is obtained this is important to start the process of a residence visa. This application must be initiated within 60 days. The validity of the entry permit. The ICA website provides a platform for this purpose and the payment of visa fees. Documents are also required to be uploaded on the same portal.
WORK/LABOR CONTRACT:
Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) would require the signed labor contract within 14 days of medical test submission.
RESIDENCE VISA & RECEIVING:
When the application is approved by the Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship (ICA) will send the residence visa. This allows the employee to live and work in UAE under the law.
EMIRATES IDENTITY CARD:
Emirates ID application must be submitted within 15 days of arriving in UAE. The national ID card, which includes visa and residency information, is essential for nearly every transaction.

STAMPING:
Previously, to obtain a new residence visa, workers had to get a physical stamp on their passports to show their details and validity. After the reforms implemented in 2021, UAE residence visas will no longer be stamped in the passport. Instead, visa information and status will be added to the Emirates ID card. If the employee has a UAE ID, the visa does not need to be stamped separately in the passport.

- Category 1: Bachelor’s degree

TYPES OF UAE VISAS FOR EMPLOYEES:
STANDARD WORK VISA:
- Validity: Two (2) Years
- Renewal: Accepted
- Provider: Sponsored by an employer
- Restrictions: Employees are allowed to work for the employer who sponsored the visa.
GREEN VISA:
- Validity: Five (5) Year
- Sponsors: No sponsorship or employer is required.
- Renew: It can be renewed on the same terms
- Perks: It provides you more flexibility in your work as well as in residency. Fewer restrictions and checks are implemented on individuals having green cards.
The criteria for this Visa would be different for different categories.
- Self-employed or free lancers:
- Freelancing permit proof is required.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Annual income for the past two years should meet the requirement that is AED 360,000/
- Skilled employees:
- Monthly salary of at least AED 15,000
- Skill level 1,2 or 3 is required
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification
GOLDEN VISA:
- Investors with AED 2 million deposit at least.
- Property valued at AED 2 Million for real estate businessmen.
